Checking for the Emergence of Our Leaf Cutter Bees

Last week we started placing leaf cutter bees in Phoenix as an adjunct to our original research plan.

On August 31st we checked for emerged bees:

As per the video above, we did find some dead bees. "He's dead, Jim."

And we checked again, every other day. On September 5th we saw:

On September 7th we saw:

So far, only about 15 - 20 bees have emerged from the ~300 cocoons for Site1a2f.

Next, we will place leaf cutter bees/cocoons at Site3 in Payson/Flowing Springs.
